About CreditMeadow
CreditMeadow publishes free educational guides about credit and everyday money for readers in the United States. We cover five areas: credit scores, credit cards, debt, personal loans and budgeting.
What we publish
Each guide focuses on one question and tries to answer it clearly: how a credit score is calculated, what credit utilization means, how interest on a balance adds up. We explain how things work so you can make your own decisions with confidence.
We do not recommend specific credit cards, loans or financial products, and we do not take applications, check credit or offer accounts of any kind.
How we write and review guides
- We rely on primary sources. Facts and figures come from the organizations that define or regulate them, such as FICO, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Each guide lists its sources.
- Every guide is reviewed by a person before it is published. We check figures against the sources and edit for accuracy and clarity.
- We show when a guide was last updated. Credit rules and products change, and we revise guides when they do.
- We correct mistakes. If you spot an error, please tell us at the address on our contact page and we will review it.
Not financial advice
Our guides are for general education only. They are not financial, legal or tax advice, and they cannot take your personal situation into account. For decisions that affect your finances, consider speaking with a qualified professional, such as a nonprofit credit counselor or a licensed financial adviser.
Advertising
CreditMeadow is free to read. In the future we may show advertising to support the site. Advertisers do not choose what we write about and do not review our guides before they are published.
